29-30 April 2003, ExCel Centre, London, booth 6 & 7 - WACOM Components Europe, who recently became a member of the Symbian Platinum Partner Programme, is exhibiting its products at Symbian Exposium03 in London. The company showcases its component product range for intuitive pen input solutions for mobile consumer appliances. At the WACOM booth, visitors will have the opportunity to see the future of pen input technology for third generation (3G) mobile phones.
The majority of Tablet PCs available today uses WACOM's Penabled? technology. Now, the company is moving further. With its new 2.2 inch sensor for 3G Mobile Phone applications, WACOM opens its pen technology to Smartphone users.
Compared to conventional technologies such as resistive or capacitive, Penabled? technology provides numerous advantages especially for mobile devices. The sensor is located behind the LCD, allowing 100 per cent luminous transmission to produce a clear display of full bright colours, with no colour wash. The embedded concept also provides a much more rugged solution, ensuring that it is well protected physically and not exposed to external harmful influences such as dirt, moisture, high temperatures and physical abuse. This leads to higher reliability and durability - both being extremely important in consumer mobile appliances including Smartphones, PDAs and Tablet PCs.
Mobile device users will soon find a new range of applications with this pen technology. Check in at your favourite hotel by signing the reservation form via your PDA. Or show your business partner where you are currently located by downloading a map of the area, marking your location and forward it to your partner's mobile.
Besides the outstanding technology, major co-operations ensure market penetration for WACOM's Penabled technology: Microsoft advocates the technology, which already today is included in the majority of Tablet PCs of all suppliers. As Symbian Platinum Partner, WACOM is working closely with Symbian on the development of small form factor sizes for all the Symbian platforms including Series 60.
