Wacom® To Market Pen Tablet Sensor System for Large-sized Display Monitors

Vancouver, Wash. - May 23, 2006-- Wacom Company Limited announced today that it has completed the development of an ElectroMagnetic Resonance (hereinafter "EMR") pen input sensor system (hereinafter "System") for large display monitors. Building on the success of its EMR sensor system for small mobile devices with screens up to 4.5 inches and notebook computers with screens up to 15.4 inches, Wacom's new System offers compatibility with desktop computers with display screens of up to 30 inches. The company will present the System during the Microsoft WinHEC 2006 exhibition, held in Seattle from May 23 to 25.

Incorporation of a newly developed compact sensor controller enabled the realization of low-power consumption, low-cost and small controller circuit board dimensions. Furthermore, the number of steps required to implement the System has been kept to a minimum, thereby making installation in display monitors remarkably easy and affordable.

In recent years the size of display monitor screens has grown increasingly larger in order to improve the enjoyment of viewing DVDs and television via desktop computers. With the System, Wacom offers the manufacturers of personal computers and display monitors a means of giving their products added value and a distinctive element.

Mass production and distribution of the System are scheduled to begin in the 3rd quarter of this year (July-September).
