Mobile Consumer Applications

WACOM Components Europe, the innovative interface company, announces the global launch of its Human Machine Interface (HMI) for mobile consumer applications. The system is the smallest, single chip solution, LCD and Electromagnetic send and receive digitiser system, commercially available today.

WACOM Components is the first company to overcome the problems associated with Electro Magnetic Resonance (EMR) technology within such a small scale digitiser system caused by the limitations of traditional LCD technology. The 4 inch diameter digitiser system uses the Toshiba Low Temperature PolySilicon (LTPS) TFT LCD combined with an empty PCB including the control chip from WACOM. This new technology allows the driver circuitry to be placed directly onto the glass which significantly reduces the amount of PCB driver circuitry at the rear of the LCD which is incumbent to EMR sensing systems.

The Toshiba 4" display is already being assessed for a number of smartphone and convergence products for the 2.5 and 3G market. Both the LCD, sensor boards and 4" ADK (Application Development Kit) are available now from WACOM Components Europe, ex-stock in production volumes. The 4" ADK now
