WACOM Components announces CE declaration of conformity for range of electromagnetic styli at Symbian Developers Conference

WACOM Components is pleased to announce CE declaration of conformity for it's latest range of OEM electromagnetic styli to EMC Directive 89/336/EEC following tests as outlined in the harmonised documents DIN EN 55022,EN55024 and EN61000-4-3.

WACOM's OEM range of pens tested were the MP-200-00, UP-710, UP-714W, UP-811E and UP-813E. The MP-200-00 or Slim Pen is WACOM's smallest and lighest pen to date. It is a non-stroke pressure stylus with side-switch, weighing less than 3g with a diameter less than 5.5mm. The UP-710 is our standard 9mm stylus with exchangeable pen tip, and our UP-714W is drip-proof. The UP-811E and UP-813E sport 2 side-switches instead of 1 and also have erasers at the other end of the stylus.

All of WACOM's electromagnetic styli are batteryless and cordless thanks to core technology and IP developed and patented back in the late 1980's. Because all of the styli use the same core technology the range is compatible and interchangeable with each other, with no need to alter the system settings or firmware. There is also no need to calibrate the pen.

In addition to these standard pens, we also manufacture an inking stylus (with replaceable ink cartridges in various colours) and styli with Tool ID, (where each pen has its own unique identifying code). This function is particularly useful if you want to give a certain user additional functions, or want to use it as a security feature.

"We are delighted to be able to announce our CE declaration for our range of styli. This gives us additional credibility in terms of compliance and approval against harmonised EMC directives. This is especially relevant as our styli are also available as aftersales replacement for the next generation of Tablet PC, Smartphone and PDA's that are being launched with our Penabled technology,"said Product Marketing Manager Neil Ferguson. "I am especially proud of our slim pen or MP-200. This encapsulates all of the features of WACOM's core products such as 256 levels of pressure sensitivity, z-axis, tilt angle and side-switches, but in a very slim diameter of 5.5mm. As User Interfaces get smaller with the next generation 2.5G and 3G smartphones the ability to have 3-dimensional interface is exceptionally advantageous. Our sensor range starts at sizes as small as 2.4" diagonal to accomodate the new range of smartphone designs."
