Vancouver, WA – May 10, 2007 – The recently launched Gateway® E-155C thin and light convertible notebook computer employs Wacom®’s latest pen and touch sensor technology, delivering a computing experience that is natural, intuitive and multi-dimensional. By infusing keyboard, digital pen and touch-screen input capabilities into a single mobile device optimized for Windows VistaTM, Gateway’s E-155C emerges as the ideal productivity tool for education and business environments. On-the-go students, educators and business professionals will appreciate navigating via finger or pen, as well as having the ability to take handwritten notes, draw diagrams and edit documents.
Gateway’s E-155C notebook is the first OEM mobile device to use Wacom’s Penabled® G5 digitizer technology. Major highlights of this new technology include:
“Wacom continues to push the pen and touch envelope with new design and manufacturing processes that will allow mobile computing manufacturers, like Gateway, to build intuitive and affordable mobile devices,” said Masahiko Yamada, President of Wacom Company, Ltd. “Gateway’s use of our input technology in their new E-155C is a testament to our collaborative effort to create innovative products that meet the current and future needs of today’s computing community.”
The introduction of Windows Vista provides hardware manufacturers and software developers a powerful platform on which to build new products. Pen and touch functionality supported at the operating-system level will allow the software community to create original and natural input options. This innovation within the software community will be supported by pen-related hardware advances facilitated by Wacom’s patented input technology. The net result of these symbiotic relationships will be the delivery of computing experiences that are faster, easier and more efficient.
